Angus’ passions at School were history and football, captaining the 1st XI and going on to study Economic History at the London School of Economics. Angus enjoyed his time at School and believes the quality of teaching and a few memorable teachers were instrumental in making him who he is today.
Angus spent his early career in marketing for Procter & Gamble and Coca-Cola, working on sports sponsorship of The Athens Olympics, England’s Rugby World Cup victory and the European Football Championships. This paved the way for 20 years of working within football clubs, initially as Commercial Director at Arsenal where Angus led their move from Highbury to the Emirates Stadium. He then became Managing Director at West Ham, re-opening the Olympic Stadium as their new home, before joining Leeds United as CEO and taking them back to the Premier League for the first time in 16 years. Angus has also served as a Director of Commonwealth Games England and Chairman of British Weightlifting.
“It’s a privilege to work in an industry that I love and the variety of having responsibility over elite sporting performance, commercial development and large-scale operations makes every day challenging. I still regularly employ the principles of leadership and teamwork that I learnt at St Albans School and am still in contact with several OAs from the Class of 1992. It’s hard to give career advice without being clichéd but I think the key is finding people to work alongside who you respect and share the same values”.
