Teaching Vacancies

Director of Music - for September 2025

We are looking to appoint a well-qualified individual to join our highly-successful and forward-looking Music Department that makes an important contribution to the School’s reputation for academic and co-curricular excellence. The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic and inspirational leader who will lead all aspects of music education at the School, teach from KS3 to A Level, and prepare students for university or conservatoire entrance.

The School has its own salary structure based on, but substantially above, national scales and a wide range of opportunities for advancement beyond the basic pay scale.  

St Albans is a beautiful Cathedral city, with a lively cultural life, surrounded by countryside but only 20 minutes from London by train, with easy access to motorways and airports.

Marketing and Communications Manager

We are seeking a dynamic and creative Marketing and Communications Manager to support the Director of Marketing, Admissions and Communications and to lead initiatives that enhance the School’s reputation, drive pupil recruitment, and showcase its unique identity. In addition to acting as ‘brand guardian’, this pivotal role involves developing, creating and implementing strategic marketing plans and activity, managing PR campaigns, planning impactful events and creating high-quality promotional materials that align with the School’s values and objectives. 

The ideal candidate will bring significant proven experience creating and producing a wide range of high-quality promotional material with proficiency in Adobe CreativeSuite, InDesign, CMS management and MS Office. Commercial sector marketing experience is essential, education sector experience would be advantageous. An understanding of digital marketing and social media is required as is strong creative flair, exceptional writing and proofreading skills.  Attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines are key to success in this role along with strong communication skills and a proactive approach.

Hours are full time, 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, full year.  Flexibility and additional hours are required including occasional evening and weekend School events.  

Annual salary circa £45,000, dependent on experience, plus benefits including generous holiday entitlement, contributory pension scheme and life assurance.
